Divorce/Dissolution of Marriage
In Minnesota, a divorce is called a Dissolution of Marriage. A divorce may occur with or without children. Either party can obtain a divorce, and the basis is simply an “irretrievable breakdown of the marriage.” Minnesota is a no-fault divorce state.
Post Decree Modifications
Courts recognize that there are changes in circumstances. If you or your ex-spouse experiences a drastic change in your lifestyle to the extent that satisfying the existing agreement is no longer possible, you may petition the court for a modification.
Child Custody & Parenting Time
Custody and parenting time are highly sensitive matters, as they should be. These issues involve the most important persons to the parties: their kids.
Spousal Maintenance
When determining whether a spousal maintenance schedule should be established, Minnesota courts consider a variety of factors, including the length of marriage, and the ages, education, employment status, and financial needs of each spouse, among other relevant considerations.
Child Support
Child support is court ordered payments for the financial support of a child. Child support includes three parts: basic support, medical support, and child care support.
Marital Agreements
Both prenuptial and postnuptial agreements are types of contracts that couples enter into either before or during marriage. People enter these contracts for a variety of reasons, though they are most commonly employed to protect property.
